No 1#20….Early in 2020 before Covid-19 struck Sarah and I went to Israel. We travelled around the country by local bus and visited many sites of Christian, Jewish and Islamic interest as well as areas of the countryside where we might find some wildlife. On this occasion we were visiting Ginosar, a small town on the banks of Lake Galilee where they recently found a fishing boat buried deep in the mud. It transpired that it originated from the time of Christ and they have gone to extreme lengths to preserve it for public viewing. As we left the fantastic museum housing the boat we walked along the shore and followed a gully going down to the lake and there, sitting amongst the reeds, was this white throated kingfisher just swaying in the breeze. As you can imagine, it was an opportunity not to be missed and I happily clicked away while Sarah continued to walk to the lake shore. As we returned to the car park we came across a ditch and in amongst the vegetation was a mongoose. I haven’t included the photo in this set of greeting cards but it was a very special moment especially coming so soon after seeing the Kingfisher. As I said, there is always a story behind every picture…
