Nuthatches just love scuttling up and down tree trunks to find invertebrates and insects as you can see in my photos. They also eat seeds and nuts, hence the name. They make their nests in small holes in trees and then spread mud around the entrance to make it even smaller. With this in mind I sat down to watch them scurrying around on the ground looking for seeds and dashing up and down the tree trunks. ‘Twas very entertaining. Swell Wood RSPB, Somerset
