Secretive water rail

Such a shy and secretive little bird…the Water Rail. I saw this one down in a ditch under the cover of some pretty serious brambles. However, as this was the first time I’d managed to see one up close it was worth the scratches and the effort of getting down on my knees amongst the thorns to capture this pretty little bird.
