On Tuesday 17th June it was the iconic Harpy Eagle and today, 20th June 2025
we trekked even further into one of the remotest parts of Darien to find the even rarer Crested Eagle. Soon after we arrived It just happened to catch a snake and fly through the canopy towards us. You might think we were lucky but I think we earned it. To get there we had left at 05.30am driven for forty five minutes by van, an hour by boat along two different rivers, another hour off road in the back of a pickup and then over an hour on horseback crossing yet another two rivers and negotiating very muddy and steep trails. Eventually we found the Crested Eagle. Absolutely awesome performances by our local guide, the indigenous protectors of the jungle and their heroic horses! Thank you so much!
